4 Ways to NOT Waste Your Wedding Flowers

“After women, flowers are the most divine creation.” - Christian Dior

Every bride wants to make her wedding beautiful, from elegant centerpieces to jaw-dropping backdrops.

Let’s talk wedding flowers – a necessity, but can cost a pretty penny. Did you know that your flowers can be more than just a memory after the big day? We’re here to talk about how you can re-use your flowers!

Personally, I love when a wedding reception is filled with flowers, but we all know how expensive real flowers can be. Especially when you’re buying in bulk – and it’s no secret that florists charge more when they hear the “W” word…

To feel a little better about the money spent, recycle them! You could save your flowers and repurpose them. Try one of these ideas for preserving your flowers instead of letting them go to waste:

[if !supportLists]1.[endif] Use them on your thank you notes.

Press your flowers between paper and under heavy books for five to eight days. Once the flowers are papery and dry, use an acid free glue stick or glue pen to secure them onto the card you want to use. Your guests will love the added special touch.

[if !supportLists]2.[endif] Create a wedding keepsake ornament.

Take some of your favorite flowers from your bouquet or boutonnieres and put them inside a clear glass ornament. This is a great way to reminisce every holiday with your husband when you decorate your tree.

[if !supportLists]3.[endif] Display them in a picture frame.

Here’s one for your bouquet. Dry and press your photos in heavy book for five to eight days until they are dry and papery. Find a special shadowbox or clear glass picture frame that you can arrange the press flowers in and hang them somewhere special! This is a great way to hold onto a piece of your wedding day forever.

4.[endif] Donate your flowers to charity.

Still have a lot of centerpieces or fresh bouquets left after repurposing some of them? Make arrangements with a local nursing home or hospital to donate your leftover flowers. This is a great way to help make someone else’s day special just like your special day.

So... don’t be afraid to buy those flowers you love for your special day. There are lots of ways to make sure that your money won’t go to waste after the “I Do’s.”
